Since its establishment in August 2013, the Taipei Cancer Center at Taipei Medical University has been committed to becoming a world-leading hub for cancer treatment, care, and research. Its mission is to provide comprehensive, integrated medical services, with a particular focus on difficult-to-treat and advanced-stage cancer patients. Collaborative cancer care, personalized for you
The Taipei Cancer Center integrates expert resources from Taipei Medical University, Wan Fang Hospital, and Shuang Ho Hospital to establish 15 multidisciplinary cancer teams, covering areas such as lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, pediatric cancers, and precision molecular oncology.
Through close collaboration among case managers, nutritionists, psychologists, genetic counselors, and other specialists, the Center develops personalized treatment plans tailored to each patient, ensuring comprehensive and efficient care throughout the entire course of treatment.
Leading the way in precision diagnostics and treatment.
Precision diagnostics are key to effective cancer treatment. Through next-generation sequencing (NGS), tumor genetic alterations can be analyzed to accurately guide the selection of appropriate targeted therapies and assess the risk of hereditary cancers.
The Molecular Tumor Board (MTB) of the Taipei Medical University system holds regular meetings, bringing together leading experts in hematology-oncology, radiation oncology, pathology, and related fields to discuss complex and challenging cases. For each patient, a personalized treatment plan is developed to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Advanced local therapies: robotic, proton and thermal treatment
Since 2011, Taipei Medical University has been among the first in Taiwan to adopt third-generation robotic surgery systems, using high-precision 3D imaging and flexible robotic arms to precisely remove tumors while preserving organ function and quality of life.
In particle therapy, it has developed proton therapy, which uses the Bragg peak effect to target tumors precisely, and combines it with hyperthermia to enhance radiotherapy and chemotherapy outcomes. In pediatric neuro-oncology, this approach has raised the five-year survival rate for non-malignant brain tumors to 98%.
Innovative systemic therapy: activating immunity for new cancer treatment possibilities
The Taipei Medical University system has extensive experience in treating advanced and metastatic cancers. For peritoneal metastasis, it uses bidirectional chemotherapy combined with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) to improve outcomes.
For refractory pancreatic cancer and advanced solid tumors, it promotes cell therapies such as CIK and dendritic cell (DC) therapy to activate and reinfuse immune cells, helping control tumors, reduce chemotherapy side effects, and improve quality of life, offering renewed hope for patients with advanced disease.
